This weekend was all about our front yard. Awake early on Saturday and then ALLL day pulling out more crap. Seriously, who knew one small grassy area could house so many weeds, bugs and rocks. Whoever planted last put rocks into the soil. Big rocks. Made digging stuff out not so easy. One rose bush was particularly difficult.
Chris snapped me on his iPhone. Sexy, no?

I struggled with that bush. With shovels and my hands and clippers. And I broke a sweat. And I kicked it and beat it up. So, when it came out of the ground I ran to the garage holding it in the air like a trophy. Because it was a trophy. Proof that I am amazing.
Saturday evening saw us doing lots of economy stimulating at Lowe’s. Oh, and then again on Sunday morning. We may have also slipped a new grill into the car.
We spent all day planting on Sunday. And it is exhausting. We planted and swept and filled and watered. We broke not one, but two shovels. And we learned that the weed whacker is slightly spastic.
Now it looks a bit sad because all the plants are teeny tiny and the ground cover takes so long to fill in. I’m not sure I’m cut out for this plant stuff. I prefer everything to grow as quickly as possible and look beautiful. If that could happen by next week, I’d be happy.

Our new grill makes delicious food!

I am seriously considering covering any sunny area of our house with lavender. I can’t get over it. It smells delicious and looks so sweet. I have big plans for it on our deck. The planters will double as railing. Chris is super excited because he has to build them for me

I have the worse sense of direction. It’s bad. I got lost yesterday going from Burbank to North Hollywood. It took me 45 minutes to go 5 miles. How does that even happen!? I was on Magnolia, and then I somehow veered off track. I was going from a place that I go all the time to another place I go all the time.

Remember when I blogged about things I should do? The Christmas Tree Light situation. Remember how I got most of them down, but got most of them stuck in the tree? We are finally a Christmas Tree Light Free Zone. A precariously placed ladder and me on my tippy toes took care of the situation. I’m thinking Chris isn’t allowed to decorate next year.

Now that the front lawn is done, I’m moving into the living room. I think it’s time my favorite room in the house had more than a giant ottoman and wing chair! I will also be repainting it. In a fit of overwhelming ridiculousness, I decided to paint it Smurf Blue. Or Highlighter Blue perhaps. I’m not quite sure what I was thinking and I hate it. I’m going to go throw some samples on the wall right now. But I can already feel the dreaded days of painting. Perhaps it is time to hire out. Know a good painter?
