I nearly fell over when I opened my inbox and saw an email from Travis. I almost for real fell out of my chair when I realized what he was emailing for!
See, Travis and I go way back. I was 15 and it was Fourth of July. His parents have a vacation home in my tiny little hometown. A big group of us hung out and watched the fireworks. Every so often, our paths would cross again in our tiny little town. Then, he graduated from Duke and came to Wake Forest (my alma mater!) for medical school. Every so often, our paths would cross again in our ever so slightly larger college town.
And then they crossed again with this email. He is living in San Diego, finishing up his Residency with the Navy and engaged to a lovely lady, Roopa. Here’s where I do almost fall off my chair. Roopa is a friend of mine from college! She was good friends with my roommate and we attended many a party together.
After graduation, Roopa and Travis met, bonding over Wake Forest. And after a short stint in DC, they starting dating. And have been together since. I love it!
And I was THRILLED that they were asking me to shoot their engagement photos. Thrilled! Our three paths would get to cross again!
We had a fabulous time shooting around San Diego and I was so happy to document this fabulous time in their lives. Thrilled!

Yay! I told Roopa when I saw her in January that she had to contact you for a photo shoot of some kind. Also, when I saw her, she didn’t have her ring because it was getting resized, and now that I see it, I can see how beneficial it would be to marry a doctor. haha. Everyone looks great.
