Adventure

I love trying new things.  All new things.  I also like buying new things.  But that’s a post for another day.

When we arrived in Vegas for WPPI Chris said he had a surprise for me. But he wouldn’t tell me what it was.  He warned me not to get too excited though.  But I LOOOVE surprises, so it really didn’t matter what it was, just that it was going to be awesome.  So, as we’re walking around WPPI, Chris would start talking about the surprise to people.  And he would whisper in their ear what it was. (On a side note, Chris went to Vegas with a sick bug.  And now, because EVERYONE that went is sick, he thinks he gave it to them.  Perhaps it was all the whispering.)  Anywho, the reaction was always excitement and "ohhh, really!  That’s awesome!"  But I couldn’t figure it out.

So, on the last day, just as we were heading out of town, he decided it was time for the surprise.  And he took me to a firing range!   Have you ever done this before?!  It’s scary/amazing/loud/scary/awesome.  Did I mention scary?  See, I’m afraid of guns.  Super scared.  But, it would be an adventure, something I haven’t tried before and something that would be new and exciting.

I picked a Desert Eagle .50 and an M4.  The M4 because the SWAT guy behind the counter told me that I shouldn’t be a baby and shoot a machine gun and the Desert Eagle because it was shiny and pretty.  Apparently though, my shiny and pretty choice was the most powerful gun on the market.  And everyone thought I was amazing.  And I was amazing… all of my shots hit the target!

Thank you dearest Christopher, for taking me out of my comfort zone and pushing me to try new things.  Kisses to your face.

fun! i was scared the first time i went to a shooting range, too! i think being a photographer helps with our aim. my husband told me to think of aiming at the target like composing my shot in a viewfinder, and pulling the trigger like pressing the shutter release…worked like a charm. =)
